Biography

Adrián Rodríguez Carbajal, also known as “Papito Control”, is a six-time World Salsa Champion and a globally recognized salsa dancer. Renowned for his dynamic performances, innovative style and championship-winning partnership with Anita Santos Rubín, Adrián has become one of the most influential figures in the salsa community.

Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, Adrián’s passion for tropical music began early, inspired by artists like Eddie Palmieri, Rubén Blades and Celia Cruz. He started performing in Montevideo’s top discos, quickly earning recognition as the “salsa character” of his country. In 2004, he moved to Barcelona to further his career, winning the Spanish Championship that same year and joining Johny Vázquez’s Imperio Azteca dance company in 2005.

Adrián’s partnership with Anita Santos Rubín, formed in 2005, marked a turning point for him. Together, they won multiple international salsa championships, including the World Salsa Open in Puerto Rico, and have since headlined major international events around the world.
