Ana “Masacote” Tinajero is a renowned Latin dance instructor, choreographer, and performer with over 20 years of experience. Known for her dynamic energy and ability to bridge cultures through dance, Ana has performed on some of the most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and salsa festivals across five continents. A recipient of the 2015 New England Salsa Music Award for lifetime achievement, she has inspired audiences and students worldwide with her passion and artistry.
Born to Mexican immigrant parents, Ana began her dance journey at age 5 with folkloric dance and fell in love with salsa at 15. While earning her BS in Management Science at MIT, she co-founded Masacote Entertainment with Joel Massicot, creating one of the salsa industry’s most influential dance and music companies. The duo’s work earned accolades, including the 2014 SBA MA Minority-Owned Business of the Year Award.
In 2019, Ana launched Dance to Power, an online Afro-Latin dance academy aimed at fostering inclusivity and empowering individuals through dance. As a proud queer Latina, Ana uses her platform to advocate for diversity and equity, blending her artistic expertise with her commitment to social impact.
Ana’s teaching and performances emphasize cultural connection and personal growth, inspiring students to embrace their authentic selves while mastering salsa, cha-cha, Cuban movement, and more. Her work continues to break barriers, uniting communities and spreading the transformative power of dance.
