Biography

Carine Morais is an eight-time World Salsa Champion, renowned for her exceptional dance technique, tricks and spin technique. Together with her husband and dance partner, Rafael Barros, Carine has performed and taught in over 35 countries, winning major titles such as the World Salsa Open, World Latin Dance Cup and World Salsa Championship.

Born in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil, Carine began dancing at five and teaching Brazilian dance styles by 14. Her salsa journey started in Ceará, where her talent quickly stood out. In 2007, she won the Brasil Salsa Open with her first partner, Paulo Burracha, before beginning her legendary partnership with Rafael Barros in 2008. She later became the co-organizer of the Brasil Latin Open, one of Brazil’s largest ballroom championships.

Carine and Rafael founded the Carine ∓ Rafael Dance School in São Paulo, Brazil which they ran until 2020. The couple also starred in the 2014 film The Latin Dream, written by Fernando Sosa. Currently based in Miami, Carine & Rafael continue to perform and teach at salsa congresses around the world.
