Fernando Sosa is a salsa dancer, choreographer and artist based out of Milan, Italy.
Sosa is often recognized as one of the top salsa dancers in the world. His style is an energetic mix of intricate turn patterns and dynamic footwork with Cuban influences. He is one of the few dancers on the international circuit that dances predominantly On1, although he also dances On2.
Sosa is the founder and director of Tropical Gem, one of the most renowned salsa dance companies in the world. The team is known for putting on extensive salsa productions that incorporate media such as videos, multiple song mixes, intricate formations and top tier performers.
Fernando Sosa is also the creator of the Salsanama salsa competition, where dancers challenge each other in a 1v1 dance battle inspired by hip hop, improvising to random selections of music. Every year Sosa hosts Salsanama competitions at salsa congresses around the world, with the winners being flown out to Milan for the championships.
In addition to his teams and competition, Fernando Sosa has been involved in numerous creative art projects over the years, including filming his own salsa movie called “The Latin Dream”, starring himself as a salsa dance competitor.
Fernando Sosa recently retired for performances, but continues to teach classes at his studio in Milan as well as at events around the world.
