Makel Fonts a versatile performer and choreographer recognized world wide for his fusion of Afro-Cuba dance with ballet, contemporary, rumba, jazz, hip hop, flamenco, and Latin-American dances.
Maykel started his dance journey in Cuba, where he graduated from the Tropicana, the most renowned dance school in the country. In 2000, Maykel Fonts moved to Italy, and has since collaborated with notable artists and choreographers while further refining his skills in flamenco, contemporary, and jazz.
Maykel Fonts has performed extensively, including tours with Milton Morales and MERCADONEGRO, and earned accolades such as winning “Best Choreography” and “Best Dancer” at the 2006 World Salsa Congress. He has also worked with the Buena Vista Social Club on a solo project and appeared at major festivals like the Bacardi Salsa Congress.
Makel’s talent extends to television and film, with appearances on shows such as Domenica In, Dance with the Stars (Italy), and commercials for brands like Nescafé. He has choreographed music videos, including Havana D’Primera’s Al Final de la Vida, and contributed to the 3D film “Street Dance 2” as a dancer, choreographer and actor. From 2015 to 2016, he served as Art Director for the Milano Latin Festival.
Today, Makel continues to inspire with his passion for dance, blending Cuban traditions with modern techniques to captivate audiences worldwide.
