Overview:

Salsa lessons with the Boogie Wonders every Sunday and Thursday at The Get Down in Japan Town in San Jose. Learn the unique salsa style of the Boogie Wonders which is a little bit funky, a little bit Latin and a whole lot of fun.

The beginner class on Sunday is for absolute beginners and those who know basic salsa, but want to practice, drill and feel more comfortable social dancing. Students will learn the salsa basic, fundamentals, timing and simple partnerwork.

For the intermediate class, students must already know the salsa basic. Here, students will master timing, learn variations of patterns, footwork, styling, musicality and focus more on body movement. In this class, students will learn to incorporate different genres of dance (house, locking, waacking, hip hop) to their own dance.

There is also a 6-week salsa series taught on Thursdays which teaches a progression of salsa footwork & partnerwork from beginning to intermediate levels.

Brian and Jeannette are passionate about music and dancing – and more importantly sharing their passion with others. It’s rare to find amazing dancers who want to teach others so enthusiastically, I’m so glad I found their class.

One of the unique aspects of their class is the 8-week format. Instead of learning a new completely unrelated pattern each class, they focus on a single challenging pattern over the course of 8 weeks, allowing students to really master the techniques. Their focus is on cultivating social dancers and they provide a lot of encouragement and support to help students gain confidence to do so. They have built a strong community of dancers in their studio who share their passion and are equally happy to help others.

If you take the Thursday class you can also come to their Sunday afternoon class for free, which is sometimes taught by Eric. There you can review the pattern being worked on, ask more questions and fine-tune further.

My dancing has improved tremendously since I started going to their class. I would highly recommend it to everyone.
