The remainder of August has a slew of special events and concerts going on. As always these are in addition to the regularly scheduled events and classes – be sure to check the calendar for more:
Thursday, August 25th
Music in the Park Pete Escovedo 2011
The summer weekly Music in the Park series closes with much lauded Pete Escovedo and band making their return to down town San Jose. Last year’s show was packed and hugely popular with dancers and music lovers alike, so expect more of the same in this final show of the season.
Fania Live
A tribute to the famed Fania Records, playing classics from Tito Puente, Ray Baretto, Willie Colon, Mongo Santamaria and other salsa legendaries.
Saturday, August 27th
Festival de la Isla
The Festival de la Isla is in it’s 10th year, celebrating Puerto Rican culture and unity. The event features salsa music and dancing as well as a salsa contest with prizes!
Sunday, August 28th
Salsamania Tropical Mambo
The Salsamania Dance Company is hosting an evening of dance classes, performances, and social dancing. This is an event that’s sure to bring out a who’s who in the Bay Area salsa community.
