About this event

Salsa Candela 2026 is an Afro-Latin dance and music festival in Kyoto, taking place during Japan’s Golden Week holiday. Spanning five days from May 4 to May 8, 2026, this festival features a rich schedule of parties, workshops, performances, and cultural activities.

Events are hosted across multiple venues in central Kyoto – including The Gate Hotel’s ballroom (for the main Congress-style shows on May 5) and the iconic Café Rumbita (for nightly parties and pre-festival events).

Dancers can enjoy salsa (on1 & on2), bachata, Cuban casino rueda, Argentine tango, and even kizomba across different days.

Cost: Each event has its own ticket (e.g., the main day pass around ¥2,500–¥3,000, nightly parties ~¥2,000 with 1 drink). The festival is organized by the NPO Japan Latin Culture Association in collaboration with Café Rumbita.

Whether you attend workshops with international instructors or social dance until midnight, Salsa Candela offers an unforgettable immersion into Latin dance culture in the heart of Kyoto.
