Salsa Groove: Dance Class & Happy Hour
Salsa Lesson, Salsa Social
Every 1st Friday of the month
About this event
Salsa Groove returns to SOB’s once a month, continuing one of New York City’s longest-running salsa traditions. For more than 40 years, SOB’s has been a go-to destination for salsa nights, and this event brings together happy hour drinks, dinner, dance lessons, social dancing, and live salsa performances in one evening.
Doors open at 6:00 PM, with dance lessons by 7:00 PM led by Joe Burgos of Piel Canela Dance. Guests who arrive between 6:00 PM and 6:30 PM can enter free with RSVP, subject to venue capacity. Salsa performances by Piel Canela dancers begin at 8:30 PM, and guests arriving later can purchase tickets online for priority entry anytime between 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM.
The night is designed for dancing, dining, and connecting with friends, family, and partners in a lively social setting. Tables with food and drink service are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees also receive one month of free classes at the Piel Canela Dance Studio.
SOB’s has played a major role in New York salsa culture since the 1980s, with artists such as Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Marc Anthony, Rubén Blades, Héctor Lavoe, Willie Colón, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Los Van Van, and Eddie Palmieri among the legends associated with its stage.
