Salsa and Bachata Classes with Holy City Salsa

About this event

Holy City Salsa offers progressive salsa and bachata courses for adults ages 18 and over at Amorous Dance in Charleston, running from November 2 to December 16, 2026.

Classes are taught by Kala Kannisto and Garin Viloria, with options ranging from complete beginner fundamentals to advanced salsa training. No partner is required, and partners rotate during classes. Weekly video recaps help students review and practice between sessions.

Monday evenings feature Salsa Basics with Kala from 7:15 PM to 8:15 PM, followed by Bachata Beyond Basics from 8:15 PM to 9:15 PM. Salsa Basics welcomes complete beginners, while Bachata Beyond Basics is designed for dancers who already know the fundamentals. The bachata course runs for four sessions, ending November 30, while Salsa Basics continues through December 14.

Tuesday evenings focus on higher-level salsa, with Salsa Level 2 taught by Kala from 7:15 PM to 8:15 PM, followed by Salsa Level 3 with Garin from 8:15 PM to 9:15 PM.

Wednesday evenings feature advanced salsa training with Garin, including Salsa Level 3.5 from 7:15 PM to 8:15 PM and Salsa Level 4 from 8:15 PM to 9:15 PM. Higher salsa levels have prerequisites, and Level 4 requires instructor approval.

Courses follow a structured schedule, with no classes during Thanksgiving week from November 23-25.

Each six-week salsa course costs $135 per person, while the four-week Bachata Beyond Basics course costs $90. Registration is for the full course, with no drop-ins or mixing between days and levels. Amorous Dance memberships do not cover these courses.

Classes take place at Amorous Dance in Charleston, with free parking available. Comfortable clothing and smooth-soled shoes are recommended. Flip-flops are not permitted.
