Albertos Salsa
Overview:
A cool bar & lounge located in Mountain View with a great instructor and chill atmosphere. Plenty of seating, a full bar, and live bands of Friday nights. Music is a mix of salsa and bachata, with a sprinkling of cha cha and merrengue.

Our Review:
The atmosphere at Albertos really depends on which night you go on.
Tuesday is the quietest night, with a good crowd coming out for the lesson, but not as many staying for the dancing afterwards. They do offer a $7 discount for students on Tuesdays though.
Thursday night is the best night to go dancing, and always draws a large crowd of dancers, with a good mix of both beginner and advanced dancers.
Friday night is the rowdiest night, and there is usually a live band playing. However, usually on Fridays there are a lot of people that are just out looking to drink and party, so it's not as good for dancing.
Overall, Albertos is one of my favorite places to go salsa dancing in the South Bay.
Alberto's is not the place to go if you're looking for "hardcore dancing" but it's a fun club with a very beginner-friendly vibe, and one of the best all around venues in the South Bay. Thursday night is highly recommended.

Went on Tuesday, and as a guy, can’t recommend it. Not only are there too few women to go around, but the instructor does very little to help minimize the waiting time between partners.
Like others mentioned, as a guy, you just end up either waiting and waiting or going through the motions all alone. Very sad, and I at least don’t go out dancing to gets sad.
Will pass from now on.

It is perhaps the strong presence of the bar that changes the people who come to this venue. I find the lessons to be great, but the crowd that arrives to be 70% male. So if you’re a chick, it’s pretty awesome. It is because of male-heavy venues like this that San Jose has become known as “man jose” for salsa. So, as a dude, it’s not necessarily the best– to grab a girl to dance with you have to overcome the competition from several other guys.
And then, there are the guys that just stand or sit at the bar and look at the girls in *that* way. Again, this can be seen as a positive thing by many of the ladies, but if you’re there for salsa’s sake and not for the sake of hooking up, maybe another venue would be a more suitable choice.

I went to Alberto’s on a Thursday night for the first time a week or two ago and was pleasantly surprised. Alberto’s was very easy to find and I was able to park on the street practically right in front of the club. The dance floor was spacious for a night club and the stage looked nice, though no one was using it. The atmosphere was very comfortable, not intimidating at all, and there was seating all around for belongings and shoe-changing. I am not sure it’s worth the $10 admissions fee but it is definitely worth a visit or two :P

I went to this place last Friday. My girlfriend was out of town, so I went by myself. I think this could be an ok place if you go with your girlfriend or friends, and you dance with them. I especially do not recommend this place for a guy if you go by yourself. There weren’t that many girls, and most of them were not dancing socially with everyone, but just with their friends. If you want to hang out, and have a drink and chat, and dance a couple of salsas, this is a good place. But if you really want to dance and meet friendly and ‘serious’ dancers, then you probably will not have fun at this place. There were like 10 intermediate/advanced dancers. The rest of the people were just there to hang out and chat and have a drink (nothing wrong with that if that is what you like to do). It may be more fun on Thursday I guess.

This is a great place to learn and practice on1 salsa. I always bring friends who are starting out to Albertos.
+ Fully stocked bar :)
+ Friendly people
+ Great instructors
+ Lot of chairs and couches :)
– Parking is hard to find sometimes
– Usually no dj or band

I love this place and Pantea is an outstanding dance instructor. She makes the instruction fun. The break between beginner and intermediate lessons are awesome to practice some of the patterns. Dance floor is big but without A/C so it gets too hot easily. I should say the main attraction is Pantea. There are some regulars coming to her classes every week. I’ve become addicted too!

In the last 2 years, I have been attending Bachata dance lesssons at Wednesday nights. The review score is given for the following reasons:
1) Location is at Mt. View downtown. It is a safe area with available free
parking, good resturants and outing vib. It is close to Silicone Valley.
2) Pantea is a good instructor. She is very skillful and helpful.
3) The space is relative new and comfortable. Music is nice to dance.
4) Most of the experience dancers are friendly.
5) After comparision to the other Bachata instructions and parites,
this is my 1st choice.
The only drawback is dancers are normally more men than women. It is not the dance club itself. It is the Silicon Valley location. Maybe cover fee discount for women could help ?

The first time I came on a Friday night, I had a blast! However, the second and third nights weren’t good. The instructors are too casual and don’t pay enough attention to the students, and the guys there are really creepy. I won’t be going again in fear of being approached by the same guys again.

Agree with P-dizzile, bad venue for guys. in the rotation during class it’s guy, couple, guy, couple, occasionally guy guy couple. so you have to just stand there waiting.
Pantea is a good teacher.

Super fun place for a Thursday night! Roomy dance floor, not too crowded, full bar with extra strong drinks, and a lively club atmosphere. Nice lounge area with tables as well where ladies can leave their regular shoes.
Easy parking and worth the $10 entrance fee. Wide mix of (mostly good) dancers. Enjoyed the colorful lighting and decorations. Good place to get a drink and a dance with a beginner or a more advanced partner. Variety of salsa, merengue, and bachata.

One of my favorite spots to go dancing in the South Bay! Thursday is the night to visit– Tuesdays tend to be a little light, and Fridays can get a little rowdy with random partiers. Thursday is when all the dancers come out.
Pantea is great if you come for the lesson, and the dancing usually goes until around 1am. There’s a good mix of dancers of all levels here. Like a lot of other events in the South Bay, some nights can be guy heavy, which is great if you’re a girl but not so great if you’re a guy.
Great salsa place overall– I would recommend it to anyone in the area that’s looking to dance and have a good time!

I came here on a Thursday with a group of friends. There was a $10 entrance fee and they take credit card.
We attended the intermediate class that started around 9pm and learned a routine. That was followed by social dancing. More and more people came throughout the night and it started getting quite crowded so it was hard to dance without bumping into people.
I would consider myself a beginner / advanced-beginner in salsa, and everyone here seemed better than me. Yet most people were very friendly and didn’t mind that I’m a beginner. Someone even taught me Bachata and Merengue. I didn’t know Bachata at all before, and haven’t done Merengue for several months. I told him and he said not to worry and he’ll teach me. It was very fun!
There was a bar for people who wanted drinks, but I brought my own water bottle and so did many people and no one seemed to mind.

Alberto’s is a packed little venue for the area. It’s convenient for those who live down here and that shows.
Pros:
1) You usually get a mixed crowd of beginners to advanced dancers – so you should feel comfortable no matter where you fall in that spectrum.
2) Dress is casual
3) Everyone is friendly
4) Parking is never a problem
Cons:
1) The lesson can run a little long, so if you’re looking for a social dance place, this place has the dancers, but you won’t get to start until late
2) The cover is excessive if you’re only going for the social dance
3) It’s really hot – there’s a fan and they always leave the door open, but the air doesn’t circulate well for all the moving bodies
Alberto’s is a great place to learn how to dance. Tues, Thurs, & Friday are Salsa Nights, Wednesday for Bachata, Rock en Espanol Saturdays and Tango on Sundays. I started dancing about four years ago, been to other places, but still love to dance at Albertos. =)
周五的晚上来了这里,老师教的方法很好,每教完一段都会给音乐练习,听老师介绍,这里还会教On 2, Lady Stying,初学者很好的地方,地板很好,适合跳舞,场地宽敞,推荐。\n\n”I came here on a Friday night, and the teacher here is very good. She taught how to listen to the music, dance On2, and lady’s styling. This is a good place for beginners and the floor is very good for dancing. Recommended.”
I tried Alberto’s Salsa on the recommendation of a friend. It’s conveniently located off the main drag in Mtn View with plenty of parking around. The staff are friendly and attentive. The bar is pretty big and has plenty of options with nightly drink specials.
They have classes for beginners and intermediate dancers before starting the social dancing. The night I went, they only had DJ music, but it was very good and rotated between salsa, bachata and merengue. I am looking forward to trying it out when they have live music. I’d recommend Alberto’s Salsa Friday nights.
Ok, has to be the most chill and relaxed place to polish your moves… very international crowd, young, mature, exhibitionist, etc. Very friendly group of folks who will teach you new stuff and practice their social etiquette. I’ve been going for more than a year, but have NEVER seen a band. Great place to practice all styles :-)
Pantea is an excellent instructor and Alberto’s is a fun place to learn salsa!
I always have a fun time here. The lessons are good, and There is usually space to actually dance! I enjoy the music & don’t have any problems with it. Of course, if you bring a bunch of friends, it’s more fun :)
Great place for a beginner!
I love Albertos! I’ve been going there off and on for over a decade! Pantea is a great teacher. Her beginner lesson starts at the very very basics, and then does progress. The intermediate class is good… I do wish it had a little more advanced stuff, more ladies styling and such. But Pantea’s a great teacher. There are usually more leads than follows, and the leads ask all sorts of follows to dance even if they don’t know you. They play mostly salsa with some bachata. It gets hot but there are fans, and you can always step outside to cool off. I highly recommend it!
