Overview:
Salsa dancing every Friday night at the Giant Artichoke Restaurant in Monterey. Beginner friendly salsa lesson at 8:30pm (no partner necessary) followed by dancing until 1:30am. Music by DJ Willi, playing the best salsa, bachata, merengue, and more. Full bar with drink specials. Dress to impress!

Willi is a fun teacher. He is very patient and breaks down the steps so people can learn them and offers individual help when needed. The music he plays is great! Thanks Willi.
Great class at the beginning! Excellent turn-out, between 100-120 dancers throughout the night. Dance floor is cozy, but energy is fantastic. And as always, pretty hard to beat DJ Willi for music! Come check it out for yourself.
It’s been a while since Monterey has had a decent Salsa night, but this is it! Easily located on the middle of Cannery Row above Starbucks, the location is great. The venue has a nice ambiance, it’s clean, and no sticky/beat up floors to destroy dance shoes! :) Best of all, the music is amazing! Best DJ I’ve heard in such a long time! Can’t wait for next Friday. This will be my new go-to spot!

DJ Willi is a great instructor for newbies and the advanced salseros. His classes are non-intimidating and he is very funny which definitely makes learning salsa a lot more fun! The Salsa Lounge is a small venue, but always packed with good dancers and a great night out. Check it out for yourself :)

Great environment, good music, and fun people. The lessons DJ Willi provides are helpful and confidence building. I have a great time every time I go. It is a nice way to get out on Friday nights to blow off some steam as Monterey is lacking Salsa venues for the weekend. DJ Willi is a exceptional teacher and I hope he continues to be an inspiration to others for a long time.
Great event to go out and meet people and enjoy the night. No pressure to drink and the music that Willi uses for the classes is pleasant to listen to while learning the moves with other new people willing to give a shot. Easy atmosphere to learn with one on one attention when the instructor feels that it can help you out. May be the only instructor in the area but for salsa and bachata but he is also maybe the only one you really need. Keep it simple and keep giving it a go and you’ll find your style.
