About this event

Hot Salsa Saturday is a monthly social held at Dance Boulevard in San Jose every first Saturday.

The event begins at 8:00 PM with beginner salsa lessons by salsa world champions Michelle Castro and Danny Zepeda, followed at 9:00 PM by an intermediate class packed with shines, styling and partner-work.

The social kicks off at 10:00 PM and is busy until about 1:30 AM. DJ Mundo fuels the main salsa room with salsa dura, mambo and cha-cha-chá, while DJ Willie spins bachata next door in the bachata room.

Cover is $15 in advance or $20 at the door, and the price includes both lessons and the party. Free parking, hardwood floor and a friendly crowd make it easy to dance all night, with occasional performances by local teams and dancers.

Whether you’re taking your first steps or looking for a high-energy monthly hangout, Hot Salsa Saturday delivers an upbeat night of music, movement and community.

Hot Salsa Saturday (or "HSS" as it's known to regulars) is one of the best salsa socials in the SF Bay Area. Held every first Saturday of the month at Dance Boulevard in San Jose, Hot Salsa Saturday is a beginner-friendly social that also attracts many of the best social dancers in the Bay Area.

The evening begins with salsa lessons taught by Michelle Castro and Danny Zepeda-- two former World Salsa Champions and top notch dance instructors. The first hour is aimed at beginners with a review of basic steps, while the second hour is for more advanced dancers (or beginners who want a challenge) with more intermediate patterns and footwork. Many studios charge extra for lessons of this caliber, but at Hot Salsa Saturday it's included in the price of admission.

The social dancing really starts picking up around 10:30pm, and the dance floor is always packed with dancers of all levels. The salsa lessons are taught on1, but the social also attracts many of the Bay Area's on2 dancers. There is also a separate bachata room next door for bachata lovers.

There are often special celebrations going on at Hot Salsa Saturday for birthdays and holidays. It's also common to see dance performances from local dance teams and performers later in the evening, and the event also occasionally features live music.

The event is held at a dance studio, and is open to all ages. There is plenty of free parking in the lot, and there is usually a taco truck as well if you get hungry and need a snack.

Overall, Hot Salsa Saturday is a can't miss social for salsa dancers of all levels.
