Rafael Barros is an eight-time World Salsa Champion, celebrated for his exceptional technique, speed and mastery of spin technique. Known for his partnership with his wife and dance partner, Carine Morais, Rafael has become a global icon in salsa, performing and teaching at over 300 congresses in 35 countries.
Born in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil, Rafael discovered his passion for dance at a young age, inspired by family gatherings. By 18, he was teaching Brazilian dance styles like Forró, Samba, and Bolero. His journey into salsa began in 2004, and by 2007, he placed third at the Salsa Open Brazil. In 2008, he partnered with Carine Morais, marking the beginning of an illustrious career that includes victories at the World Salsa Open, World Latin Dance Cup and World Salsa Championships.
The two co-founded the Carine & Rafael Dance School in São Paulo, which they ran until 2020, and have frequently appeared on television programs in Brazil and internationally, showcasing their talent to millions. Rafael is also the former organizer of the Brasil Latin Open, one of the largest ballroom championships in Brazil.
Rafael and Carine have become renowned for their refined technique and dynamic choreography, making them sought-after instructors, judges and performers on the global stage. Currently based in Miami, Rafael Barros continues to inspire dancers worldwide with his dedication to the art of salsa, setting the standard for excellence in competitive and social dance.
