Friday Night Latin Nights transforms Take The Lead Dance Studio in Hockessin into Delaware’s most energetic Latin social—drawing dancers from across the tri-state area every second Friday of the month.
Held in a polished, mirror-lined studio with pro lighting and hardwood floors, the night kicks off at 9:15 PM with a beginner-friendly group lesson. Guest instructors rotate monthly, with past teachers including local favorites Joe Figueroa and Michael Payne. The lesson is designed to ease newcomers into the rhythm while offering fresh moves for regulars.
By 10:00 PM the lights dim, the cash bar opens, and guest DJs like DJ Thunder or DJ VSpice take over—delivering a dancefloor mix of salsa, bachata, merengue, and the occasional cha-cha or kizomba track.
The vibe is friendly and inclusive, with no partner or pre-registration required. Light snacks are set out near the bar, and regulars mingle with newcomers between songs. One recent night saw over 150 dancers—from complete beginners to seasoned socialites—all moving to the beat under party lighting.
Entry is $15 at the door. Come for the lesson, stay for the music, and lose yourself in three hours of nonstop Latin dancing.
