Salsón

Hailing from the Monterey Bay, Salsón represents a blending of talent – upstart musicians from Monterey Bay share the stage with established names from the San Francisco Bay Area.

A self styled “salsa band for salseros”, Salsón plays a dancer friendly mix of Salsa, Cha Cha, Latin Jazz and Merengue. The band’s sound is heavily influenced by the hard hitting “salsa dura” era of classic salsa from the 1960’s and 70’s, combining classic rhythms from Cuba and Puerto Rico, as well as New York. The result is a raw and energetic live show that get’s dancers of all backgrounds on their feet, garnering respect from on1 and on2 dancers as well as the Timba crowd.

Salsón is also notable for making an effort to educate Salsa enthusiasts about the history of Salsa music and it’s various components in order to make their fans better dancers as well as more informed music lovers.
