¡Alegría! Latin Dance Lesson & Social is a monthly gathering held on the last Thursday at Dance With Joy Studios in Portland.

Instructor and DJ Marco Martinez opens the evening at 7:30 PM with a combination lesson featuring bachata and salsa variations. The lesson is designed to lead smoothly into the social and costs $18 or can be attended with a class card, with social admission included.

The social begins at 8:30 PM, with Marco playing salsa, bachata, merengue, cha-cha-chá and cumbia. Social-only admission is $10, making it easy for dancers to join after the lesson.

The Summer 2026 dates are June 25, July 30 and August 27. The event emphasizes friendship, dancing and community in a welcoming studio setting.

Dancers can attend the lesson, the social or the full evening.
