Latin Roots Salsa and Bachata Classes in Edinburgh

About this event

Latin Roots offers weekly salsa and bachata classes for adults at Shanghai Club inside Le Monde Hotel in Edinburgh, with progressive instruction available from complete beginners through four stages of training.

Classes are taught by Wellington Black and Eleanna Podara, focusing on rhythm, timing, leading and following, body movement, partner connection, and musicality. Each training evening includes 45 minutes of salsa and 45 minutes of bachata, allowing students to develop skills in both styles.

Beginner classes take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM and Sundays from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM. Stage 2 follows on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:30 PM to 10:00 PM and Sundays from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM.

More experienced dancers can attend Stage 3 on Mondays and Thursdays from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, followed by Stage 4 from 8:30 PM to 10:00 PM.

Beginners follow a structured four-week course, while experienced dancers complete an introductory session to determine their appropriate level. No partner is required, and partners rotate during classes.

The four-week beginner course costs £70 for one training evening per week or £129 for all three beginner evenings. These are one-time payments that do not automatically renew. A £5 trial class is available, with the fee credited toward the beginner course.

Experienced dancers can apply for a free assessment application followed by a £15 Introductory Session for placement. This session is not available as a casual drop-in.

For ongoing training, Hooked membership costs £70 every four weeks for one weekly training day. Addicted membership costs £129 every four weeks for up to 24 sessions. Memberships renew automatically and require cancellation at least seven days before renewal.

Classes take place at Shanghai Club in the basement of Le Monde Hotel. Enter by taking the stairs on the left side of the hotel down to the club entrance.

Waverley Station is approximately a seven-minute walk away, while St Andrew Square tram stop is about five minutes away. Nearby street parking is usually free after 6:30 PM, but drivers should check posted restrictions.
