Abel Peña is a Los Angeles–based salsa dancer, coach, and director best known for three consecutive ESPN World Salsa Championships titles in the On1 division with partner Zulmara Torres. He also won Los Angeles’ Club Mayan Salsa Competition and has performed and taught across North and South America, Europe, and Asia.
Abel’s style reflects classic LA On1—high-speed turns, aerials, and crisp technique—refined through years on competitive stages and the social floor. Today he directs AP Project Dance Company in LA, where he coaches student and amateur teams and offers training focused on fundamentals, partner connection, and competition readiness.
