Biography

Proud to call the Bay Area it’s homebase, the Grammy winning Pacific Mambo Orchestra (PMO) is 19-piece big band that specializes in Salsa, Mambo, Cha Cha and Latin Jazz.

Since it’s inception in 2010, Pacific Mambo Orchestra has quickly grown to acclaim in the San Francisco Bay Area, and is beloved by both the “hard-core” dancer crowd and music aficionados alike. Helmed by band-leaders Christian Tumalan and Steffen Kuehn, PMO has garnered a reputation for bringing together some of California’s most talented musicians to become a true big band power-house that is reminiscent of the famous Latin Big Bands of the Palladium era.

Together, the group has earned a reputation as one of the Bay Area’s most exhilarating live acts, putting their own unique spin on top hits by Latin legends such as Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Machito and many others.

In 2014, PMO claimed it’s place in the spotlight, winning the Grammy for Best Tropical Latin Album and beating out a stable of established favorites including none other than Marc Anthony. The self-titled debut album features the group’s signature sizzling covers as well as a number of original compositions including break-out hit “Overjoyed”.

PMO’s members are each sought-after musicians in their own right, having shared the stage with such legendary acts as Carlos Santana, La India, Victor Manuel, Ray DeLa Paz and many others.
