Sondeluz is a Cali-based salsa academy and performance company, founded in 2000 and later formalized as an artistic foundation in 2008. Based in the Champagnat neighborhood of Cali, the school is tied to the city’s salsa caleña tradition and combines social dance instruction, stage training, and youth arts education. It has trained children, teens, and adults, and also positions dance as a tool for personal development in vulnerable communities.
The academy is directed by Luz Aydé Moncayo, its founder and director. She is also presented as a lead instructor and a central figure in the school’s advanced salsa training. Sondeluz is known for Cali-style salsa, show work, and competition preparation, and its training program has produced world champions and dancers who have represented Colombia internationally.
Sondeluz was a finalist at the World Salsa Open in 2016. More recently, the group has continued appearing on major congress stages, including the Chicago International Salsa Congress in 2025 and 2026. Overall, Sondeluz stands as both a local training institution in Cali and an internationally visible representative of Cali salsa performance culture.
