The New York Movement is a collective of New York City’s top mambo dancers, an all-star project that brings together champion performers and seasoned competitors to represent NYC on the world stage. Formed as a super team with roots in companies like Yamuleé, Santo Rico, Descarga Latina, and the Cobo Brothers, The New York Movement focuses on one thing: building world-class routines that can win against the best.
Over the years the team has delivered exactly that. The New York Movement are 5× World Salsa Summit champions, with titles across multiple pro team divisions, including Small Teams (2015), Professional Large Team Open Salsa (2016), Small Team Salsa Cabaret (2017), Professional Small Team (2018), and Open Small Team Salsa (2020). Their sets are known for crisp New York-style timing, high-impact musicality, and tight ensemble work that balances speed with clarity, hallmarks of the city’s competitive salsa lineage.
The New York Movement’s rotating roster has featured some of NYC’s most decorated artists, including Delia Madera, Veronica Castilla, Maria Ramos, Ernesto Bulnes, Denisse A. Cambria, Fausto Felix, and Jacob Lugo, among other NYC standouts. Collectively, they bring multiple world titles, coaching experience, and deep training in mambo, Afro-Cuban movement, and cabaret elements, the ingredients The New York Movement uses to craft championship routines year after year.
While the lineup can evolve from season to season, the mission stays the same: showcase the best of New York mambo through precise technique, explosive tricks, and swaggering style, then bring the trophies home.
