Jessica Montoya is a dancer, instructor, choreographer, and performer with a diverse background spanning Latin dance, Afro-Cuban dance, ballet, jazz, contemporary, flamenco, and other movement styles.
She began dancing at the age of four, training in Classical Ballet, Jazz, and Tap before expanding into Modern Dance, Gymnastics, Contemporary, Lyrical Jazz, Hip Hop, and Flamenco. Her study of Flamenco included traveling to Spain to deepen her understanding of the dance and its cultural roots.
In 2016, Jessica traveled to Cuba, where she trained in Havana and Santiago de Cuba in Afro-Cuban dance, Salsa, Son, and Rumba. These experiences became an important part of her development as a dancer, strengthening her connection to Cuban culture, musicality, rhythm, and authentic movement.
As an instructor, Jessica works with dancers of all levels and has also led immersive cultural dance experiences in Cuba. She has served on the board of the Albuquerque Latin Dance Festival and has performed with the Gipsy Kings.
Her work as a choreographer extends to film and television, with credits including Deputy, Walker Independence, Cry Macho, A24’s Opus, and Netflix’s PULSE.
Jessica approaches dance as a way to build connection, explore culture, and express individuality. Her goal is to create welcoming spaces where dancers can grow, move authentically, connect with others, and experience the joy and transformative power of dance.
