About this event
FEM Dance offers weekly bachata classes with instructors Ivan Dai and Irina Raynaud at Te Whaea in Wellington, with options for beginners through advanced dancers.
Wednesday evenings begin at 6:30 PM with Beginners and Improvers 2 classes, followed by Improvers 1 and Intermediate/Advanced classes at 7:30 PM. Guided practice starts at 8:30 PM, with instructors available to answer questions and provide feedback.
Improvers 1 focuses on open-hold leading and following, while Improvers 2 explores Bachata Sensual body movement, isolations, and styling. Dancers interested in joining the Intermediate level must complete an assessment.
No partner is required, and partners rotate during classes, giving students the opportunity to practice with different dancers.
First-time students can try a class for NZ$10 during any four-week block.
The next beginner course is a six-week fast-track program running from November 4 to December 9, 2026. Classes take place on Wednesdays from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, and the full course costs NZ$109.
Classes are held at Te Whaea in Wellington, which offers free on-site parking and a bus stop directly outside. The bus journey from town takes approximately ten minutes.
Important: Event times are subject to change. Always double-check with the event organizer before making plans.
