David Stein is an acclaimed salsa dancer, instructor, and choreographer whose dynamic style and innovative vision have made him a pillar of the global Latin dance community. Based in San Diego, David co-founded Majesty in Motion Dance Company in 2002, transforming a single performance team into Southern California’s largest salsa organization—a powerhouse of eight teams renowned for high-energy shows, jazzy musicality, and razor-sharp technique.
A lifelong devotee of music and movement, David carved his reputation on the social floor at Café Sevilla before launching Majesty in Motion. Over more than two decades he has mentored thousands of dancers, teaching Salsa On1, Salsa On2, cha-cha-chá, pachanga, and ladies styling in classes seven days a week. His engaging, detail-oriented instruction emphasizes connection and creativity, turning first-time students into confident social dancers and competitive performers alike.
As a performer and workshop leader, David has shared the stage with Majesty in Motion teams across the United States and around the world, from Bermuda and Japan to England, Sweden, and Canada. His commitment to excellence has been recognized by legendary promoter Albert Torres, while his crisp partnerwork and musical nuance continue to inspire dancers at congresses in New York, Boston, Seattle, and beyond.
In 2017 David and his wife, Jennifer Stein, opened a two-room studio on El Cajon Boulevard—now a vibrant hub for weekly socials, live-music events, and community outreach. Whether he’s debuting a cutting-edge choreography, drilling fundamentals in class, or DJ-ing a late-night social, David Stein remains dedicated to elevating salsa dance culture, fostering teamwork and leadership, and igniting a passion for Latin rhythm in every dancer he meets.
