Trang Thu Hoang is a San Francisco-based Salsa On2 instructor and co-director of San Francisco Salsa Academy with Michael Kagan. She is part of the first generation of salsa dancers in Vietnam and has more than fifteen years of experience teaching Latin dance.
Trang began as a ballroom dancer before being introduced to bachata and salsa by her teacher Sy, one of the early salsa pioneers in Vietnam. She later opened her first studio, Jan, in her hometown of Hai Phong, then moved to Hanoi in 2016 to become studio manager and resident salsa instructor at Beso Latino. There, she taught all levels while adding youth classes and performance choreography to her work.
Her dance path also includes international congresses in Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, India, and San Francisco. Trang moved permanently to San Francisco in 2023, where she continues to teach and direct SF Salsa Academy with Michael. Her classes focus on Salsa On2 foundations, footwork, partnerwork, choreography, and helping dancers grow with clarity and confidence.
