Yolena Kapoli is a salsa dancer and instructor based in Athens. She teaches and performs with Dimitris Psychogyios through La Secta Dance Company, working in New York style salsa On2. Her movement background includes more than twenty years of study in ballet, jazz and contemporary dance.
Kapoli began studying salsa and bachata in 2013. In 2018, she formed IllumiNaughty as a women’s bachata team, later developing it into a salsa project in 2020. She also began performing with Psychogyios’ company in 2018 before their collaboration expanded into a couple partnership.
Her experience extends to commercial dance and heels, including appearances in Greek music videos. In salsa, her teaching brings that wider movement background to body movement and solo work, alongside partnered technique. She and Psychogyios travel internationally for workshops and shows, including a guest teaching engagement at Seattle’s Baila District. Their classes cover foundational movement, musicality and shines as well as the connection required for On2 partnerwork.
