Swing Latino is a Cali, Colombia-based salsa company and academy founded in the late 1990s. It is directed by Luis Eduardo Hernández, better known as “El Mulato.” The team is known for specializing in Cali-style salsa, and is known for very fast footwork, acrobatic lifts, sharp stage precision, and large-format theatrical performances.
Over the years, Swing Latino has become one of the best-known Colombian salsa teams on the international stage. The group has earned major results at events including the World Salsa Championships and Las Vegas Salsa Championship, and is widely recognized as a multi-time world champion salsa team. They also reached a much broader audience through television appearances including ¡Q’Viva! The Chosen and NBC’s World of Dance in 2017, where they won the Team Division and advanced to the finale.
More recently, Swing Latino has remained visible beyond the salsa circuit through commercial and mainstream performance work. The group performed with Jennifer Lopez at the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show, and Swing Latino dancers also perform at Mulato Cabaret in Cali.
