Vaidilė Pukytė, also known as Vai, is the founder of the social dance studio Vailamos and an experienced salsa instructor who has been active in the international Latin dance community for many years. She specializes in crossbody salsa, both On1 and On2, and her dance background also includes bachata, lindy hop, and classical ballet, which give her a strong understanding of movement, technique, and musicality.
Her development as a teacher was shaped in the United Kingdom, where she taught at some of London’s best-known salsa venues, including Salsa Soho and Salsa Temple, as well as Latin Collective and Caramelo Dance School. During that time, she worked with dancers of all levels, from complete beginners to experienced social dancers. Vai has extensive experience teaching both couples and solo dancers in both lead and follow roles, and has also taught large group classes with more than 100 participants.
Vai is known for her clear class structure, technical precision, and ability to make complex concepts easy to understand. Her teaching places special emphasis on posture, balance, body coordination, lead and follow technique, and comfort in partner dancing. She is known for noticing even small technical details and helping students refine them quickly, so that progress can be felt almost immediately.
In her classes, Vai creates an energetic, supportive, and motivating environment where students build not only steps, but also confidence, musicality, and connection. Her goal is for every dancer to leave class feeling stronger technically and even more inspired to keep dancing.
