Hide (real name: Hidetsugu Nakamura) is a Tokyo-based salsa dancer, instructor and choreographer. He is one half of HIDE & PEKO with Keiko Akabane, and together they run HIDE & PEKO Dance Company as instructors, performers and team directors.
Hide and Peko began working together as a salsa couple in 2013 and built one of Japan’s most visible competitive salsa partnerships. Their results include multiple Japan championship titles, a 3rd place finish in the World Latin Dance Cup Amateur Salsa Couple division in 2015, and a 4th place finish in the World Latin Dance Cup Salsa On1 Couple Pro division in 2018.
Their training and performance history has taken them through Japan, Cuba, Colombia, Canada, New York, France, Finland, Spain and many international stages. HIDE & PEKO have appeared at events such as Japan Salsa Congress, Taiwan Salsa Carnival, Berlin Salsa Congress, SBK San Francisco Congress and BIG Salsa Festival New York, along with music video work connected to Tonny Succar and Orquesta De La Luz.
At HIDE & PEKO Dance Company, Hide teaches salsa technique, shines, turn and spin work, team choreography and performance training. He brings together competition experience, international stage work and structured Tokyo-based instruction for students who want to train seriously in salsa.
