About Beto Senzey

Beto Senzey is a Colombian salsa dancer, instructor and choreographer based in Tokyo, Japan. Originally from Chocó, Colombia, he is known for bringing salsa caleña into the Japanese Latin dance community and for leading Sabor Caleño.

Beto’s background is rooted in Colombian salsa and Swing Latino. He joined Swing Latino in 2000, won national championship titles in Colombia, and came to Japan in 2006 to promote salsa caleña. In 2007, he won the Cabaret category at the World Salsa Congress in Beijing.

Since 2010, Beto has led Sabor Caleño, developing pair teams, women’s shines teams, kids teams and performance projects in Japan. His work combines fast Colombian-style footwork, Salsa On1, bachata, body movement and stage choreography, with a clear focus on keeping Colombian salsa culture visible in Tokyo.

Beyond classes and performances, Beto has worked as a choreographer, stage director, television performer and judge for domestic congresses. His work is especially relevant for dancers interested in the Japan-Colombia salsa connection and the growth of salsa caleña outside Colombia.
