Biography
Montuno Dance Company is a performance and competition salsa team based out of San Jose. Founded in 2008 and directed by world-class salsa dancer Isidro Corona, the team has grown to be one of the largest salsa teams in the South Bay, with dozens of members on its performances and training teams.
Montuno practices in the Dance Boulevard studio in San Jose, and dances in the “On1” style of salsa. The team has performed at salsa congresses and festivals around the country, including San Francisco, LA, and the US Salsa Open Championships.
Semi-Pro Team
The Montuno Semi-Pro team is a high level performance and competition salsa team that performs all over the Bay Area, including the SF Salsa Congress and US Salsa Open Championships.
Amateur Team
The Montuno Amateur team is aimed at advanced beginner-intermediate level dancers, and focuses on developing spinning, partnering, and footwork performance skills.
Montuno Protege
The Montuno Protege team is aimed at beginners who have little to no training in salsa. The team helps to develop salsa dancing technique On1, and culminates in a salsa performance.
