Alexis is a professional salsa and bachata instructor in Los Angeles with a lifelong background in dance and the performing arts. She has been dancing and performing since the age of three and has spent more than 13 years competing, choreographing, and teaching Latin and ballroom dance.
She trained at the Fern Adair Academy of Performing Arts and the Interlochen School of the Arts, along with world champion dancers. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication and Information from the University of Tennessee and her dance teaching certification through Dance Vision International Dance Association (DVIDA). She is also a member of ProDVIDA, NASSPDA, and the NDCA.
Alexis is the 2020 North American Same-Sex Latin Champion, an American Rhythm titleholder, and an American Smooth Champion. She has competed in Latin dance for more than 13 years, earning numerous first-place finishes, and is proficient in teaching more than 30 styles of dance and movement.
She has also taught Kevin Hart how to dance for his YouTube series What the Fit. In 2017, Alexis won the coveted Emerald Ring as a Top Teacher at the Emerald Ball, one of the largest ballroom competitions in the country.
Alexis believes dance is an art form built on skill, expression, connection, and confidence. Her teaching style is patient, structured, energetic, and often accompanied by a little comedic relief.
She runs her own salsa and bachata studio in Santa Monica.
