Barbaro is a professional Cuban dancer and instructor based in The Hague, Netherlands, specializing in Cuban Salsa, Timba, Rumba, Son, Afro-Cuban dance, and other Cuban dance traditions.
He trained at the prestigious Conjunto Folklórico Nacional de Cuba, where he developed a deep foundation in Afro-Cuban movement, music, and cultural traditions. His approach to dance is rooted in this heritage while also exploring contemporary expression, blending traditional movement with flow, musicality, and modern influences.
Through Dance with Barbaro, he teaches private and group classes, workshops, and bootcamps in the Netherlands and beyond. His teaching covers Cuban Salsa and Timba alongside Rumba, Son, Afro-Cuban movement, Reparto, technique, and men’s styling.
Barbaro sees his Afro-Cuban identity as central to his work as an artist and teacher. Rather than treating Cuban dance simply as a collection of steps, he emphasizes the relationship between movement, music, culture, and individual expression, helping dancers develop a deeper connection to the roots of the dances while finding their own style.
