Peiwei Cobo is a salsa instructor, performer and choreographer based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Originally from China, she co-directs CoboBrothers Dance Co. with her husband and dance partner, James Cobo.
Peiwei’s movement background includes more than a decade of rhythmic gymnastics, along with musical training and dance study across ballet, tap, jazz and contemporary. Her salsa training includes work with Ernesto and Denisse of Iroko and continued study with Marisol Blanco, giving her a foundation that connects stage technique with Afro-Cuban and Latin dance vocabulary.
As a competitor, Peiwei is known for her ladies solo work, including a Professional Salsa Ladies Solo title at The Summit in 2023 and a Pro-Am Ladies Team Shines title at The Summit in 2025. She also travels to teach, perform and social dance, representing CBDC at events in North Carolina and beyond.
At CoboBrothers Dance Co., Peiwei works as a co-director and choreographer, teaching salsa and bachata while helping lead the company’s training and performance programs. Outside the congress and studio setting, she has also choreographed for theater, including Raleigh Little Theatre’s production of In the Heights.
