About Tanja Siebert

Tanja Siebert is a Berlin-based Rueda de Casino, Casino, and Son instructor known for her musical, highly creative approach to teaching. A professional jazz singer since 1998 and a longtime instructor of singers and jazz ensembles, she brings a musician’s understanding of rhythm, phrasing, and structure to her dance classes.

Tanja became active in Berlin’s Cuban dance community in 2009 and began teaching Rueda de Casino and Son in 2014. She teaches both leading and following, rueda calling, technique, musicality, and structures including Llanta, Avenida, Mixta, Equis, Switch Rueda, and Rueda de Son. Rather than relying only on demonstration and imitation, she builds concepts step by step so dancers understand how the movement, structure, and music work together.

Her approach to “Berlin-style” Rueda emphasizes active participation from both roles, continuous and graceful movement, strong group connection, and inventive calling. She has taught throughout Germany and the Nordic region, as well as in Mexico and the United States. Her continued study has included Son and Rueda de Son training in Santiago de Cuba and Baracoa, with inspiration from Yanek Revilla and Sabor SKY.

Energetic and demanding while remaining playful, Tanja encourages dancers to move beyond memorized figures and develop stronger technique, musical awareness, communication, and flow.
