Sin Tecnica No Hay Tecnica | Salsa Dance Video

Song: “Sin Tecnica No Hay Tecnica” by Tony Avila

This is one of the first salsa videos we made after the pandemic started. After months of lockdowns we got tired of recording ourselves in our apartments, and decided to do a video outdoors.

We dusted off some baby blue costumes we had from old routines and headed for the Don Edwards Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Newark.

Don Edwards sits at the southern end of the San Francisco Bay, where the waters of the Bay meet with local streams to form a marshland and nature preserve. Everyone knows about the Golden Gate Bridge and the northern end of the Bay, but Don Edwards is one of the lesser known local gems.

I actually stumbled across the location on one of the last days before the lockdowns. There was heavy traffic on the freeway, so I ended up taking a side street and saw the refuge in the distance and decided to check it out. It ended up being one of the most gorgeous sunsets I’ve seen, and I made a mental note of it to come back.

Looking back now there is a lot we could have improved about the video, from both a choreography and videography standpoint. But it was our first video that made all our future videos possible. Hope you enjoy!
